Professor Dr. Alexander Maedche

Prof. Dr. Alexander Mädche is full professor and chairperson of the Chair of Information Systems IV, Enterprise Systems (ERIS) at the Business School, University of Mannheim. Since 2010 he is academic director of the Mannheim & Tongji Executive MBA Program at Mannheim Business School gGmbH. In 2011, Prof. Mädche became managing director of the Institute for Enterprise Systems (InES) at the University of Mannheim.


Prof. Mädche studied business engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology from 1994-1999 and received a PhD (Dr. rer. pol.) from the University of Karlsruhe in 2001. In the time frame of 2001 to 2003, Alexander Mädche was head of a research group for knowledge-based systems at the Research Center for Computer Science (FZI), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Before joining the University of Mannheim in 2009, Alexander Mädche worked six years in industry focusing on large-scale information systems at Bosch Group and SAP AG. Focus of the research work of Prof. Mädche and his research group are enterprise systems, in particular designing the constituents of enterprise systems to increase its business value contribution. The work of Prof. Mädche is published in leading international journals and conferences such as IEEE Intelligent Systems, SIGMOD Record, AI Magazine, the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) as well as the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS).
